Castle Douglas Community Centre has been in existence since 1989 originally under the auspices of Dumfries & Galloway Council. In 2018 Council wished to move Centre on and following the formation of the Castle Douglas Community Centre Development Trust (CDCCDT) in February 2019 a successful Community Asset Transfer process was completed on 1 st April 2019.
The Community Centre consists of sixteen rooms of varying sizes spread over two former school buildings. With core tenants ( IT Centre & Better Lives Partnership) in four of the Offices we have 12 rooms, including a Gym, to let of which eight are on the ground level. The upper floors, which include a café are accessible by a chair lift if need be. The Centre is also home to the long established Golden Day Club a lunch and activity group which meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays plus the seasonal Warm Spaces lunch on a Friday.
The Centre is home to almost fifty different groups who cover a range of activities including exercise, art, language and crafting. We also have a conference room and two 75 inch interactive wide screens, one on each floor so the Centre can offer facilities for small conferences, business meetings and training sessions.
With ground floor and upper floor cooking facilities available we can offer in house catering from coffee/tea & biscuits to light lunches with sandwiches and or soup. With Staff on duty at all times we are able to make on the spot decisions and be as flexible as possible. For example tell us in advance how you would like your room set up and we will arrange it for you.
